This Wednesday in Tarragona, VCF Juvenil B were proclaimed winners of the At Abtal International Cup, an international Under-19s tournament promoted by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Sport that has been played in recent weeks in various locations in Spain.
The team once again showed its competitive level at the Nou Estadi, beating Atletico Madrid 2-1.
It was their opponents who went ahead at the start of the second half, but VCF Juvenil B fought back in the final stretch of the match with two goals from Mario Domínguez, twice set up by Santana. The first was from a ball into the box, and the second a skillful pass through and finish after beating the offside trap.
VCF Juvenil B thus ended the tournament undefeated, impressing in a competiton that had a great following in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries.
The team received the cup from Hisham Tashkandy, Director of the Saudi Scholarship for Developing Football Talent (Ministry of Sport) in an act in which the directors of the VCF Academy Sean Bai, Marco Otero and Luis Martinez also participated.
VCF Juvenil B begin the second phase of the Liga National this week.They face CD Castellón on Saturday at 5pm CEST.
